My parents bought me a beautiful diary on my birthday. It was a pink glitter diary with the line ‘Born to Shine‘ written on it. I decided to make my very first entry on that day itself. When I opened the diary, something was written in it. It said, ‘Happy Birthday Princess, a big cake awaits you. ‘ And it began with that…

When I went downstairs, I saw that an enormous chocolate cake was kept on the table. That was nothing to worry about because it was my birthday after all. I asked my parents if either of them had written the line in my diary. They said that they didn’t and even I’m sure they were saying the truth because none of them ever wrote in cursive.

Next morning after coming back from school, I thought of writing about my day in school. When I opened the dairy I saw that again there was something written in it. It said, ‘Your parents are going to scold you severely today. ‘ As expected, I accidentally spoiled my father’s important documents and not only did they both scold me but also punished me….I was grounded for the whole weekend.

For 2 days, everything was fine, except that I missed my best friend’s birthday party. I did apologise for that but I don’t think she believed me. On Monday, before going to school, I thought of checking the diary once. Again there was something written in it. ‘Your parents are going to have an accident today. ‘ I was left devastated but I didn’t know what to do because my parents would definitely not believe that the diary could predict the future.

When I was at school, a teacher informed me that my parents had met with a road accident and were in a critical condition. I fumed up in anger, confusion and sorrow. I ran away from school with the intention of setting the diary on fire.

I lit a fire in the backyard of my house and waited till the dairy turned to ashes. Then I returned to my room to change my clothes to visit the hospital where my parents were admitted. When I opened my cupboard a box fell out of it and when I opened it, I saw another diary of the same kind. It said,

You are going to die.

  1. This story was scary, but very cleverly written. I like how at first the diary was writing nice things that came true, like about the cake. Then it turned darker and darker – this was a very interesting idea for a story. Keep writing! ❀
